Rachel Hacker has enjoyed a colorful life of music, travel, and friendship. Her musical interests vary greatly, and she has played in numerous nonconventional performance settings. Most recently, Hacker has performed at RedCat in DTLA and at The Academy Theatre in Beverly Hills. She enjoys using her multiple different flutes in order to create new solo repertoire, or to collaborate with others.
As a music educator, Rachel was a Teaching Assistant for undergraduates at CalArts and has taught extensively with the CalArts Community Arts Partnership. She has previously been an instructor of flute at New York University and has worked as a music instructor with the AmeriCorps.
In addition to her performance and teaching pursuits, Rachel has been a writer for the online magazine "The Flute View" since 2013. In 2019, she begins obtaining her Master of Fine Arts in Teaching degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
Rachel is a 2019 graduate of California Institute of the Arts, where she studied for her MFA in Instrumental Performance. Hacker also holds music degrees from New York University and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.
